Les Pins (The Pines) is the headline act, a majestic parkland course weaving through mature woodland where accuracy off the tee really matters. Les Dunes (The Dunes) changes the mood completely. It's more open, more exposed and you'll often find the wind and firmer turf bringing the ground game into play.
Hardelot is also a handy base for UK golfers, sitting just 25 minutes north of the Le Touquet hotspot, so it works well for a quick cross-Channel escape. If you're building a northern France itinerary, it's an easy win to add a second venue without adding travel hassle.
The Pines is widely regarded as the pick of the two and is ranked among the top courses in France. Pair it with the contrasting challenge of The Dunes and you've got a two-round trip with real variety, all without changing hotels.

As its name suggests, Les Pins is carved through Hardelot's magnificent pine forest, and the course has a rich tradition. Originally presided over by the Duke of Argyll, there is a strong British link at this French classic, but the course really came to the fore with Tom Simpson's 1934 redesign.
The host of many prestigious national and international professional events, Les Pins is a subtle course that demands accuracy and sound strategy above all else. Measuring 6,480 yards, the course is not long, but the greens are tricky and a tight short game will be needed to tame this established championship layout.

Les Dunes is Hardelot's second course designed by Paul Rollin and Jean-Claude Cornillot. Les Dunes typifies the Côte d'Opale landscape, set amid the delightful dunes, lakes and mature woodland.
The 5,834 yard layout is distinctly different in character to its illustrious neighbour, but this diversity makes Hardelot all the more attractive. Watch out for the subtly sloping putting surfaces, closely guarded by strategically positioned bunkers.

I've been going to Hardelot Pines for 20 years and this is the worst condition I've seen it in. It's been closed for renovation and it seems it wasn't ready for reopening. Avoid going or 3 months and I'm sure it'll recover. It would be useful if Your Golf Travel had informed us of the state of the course as we would have chosen to play La Mer twice instead.

Course not as good as Les Dunes + did not have a restaurant which we did not discover until we bought the first round of drinks - very annoying. We went to Les Dunes for lunch! Course was not as interesting as Les Dunes especially the front 9.

Good course weather probably did not help; the restaurant was good both food and staff, in fact Les Pins do not have a restaurant so we went to have lunch here on the final day which was excellent.

We started off slowly for about 4 holes ,but once we were waved through we made good time . There was a shoot going on around the 2nd or 3rd hole which made it quite tricky plus there should be a bell there.

Nice course, well laid out, tees, fairways and greens all in good condition. We were lucky with the weather as it was sunny all day. Some interesting holes and for a Saturday not too busy.

Played on 23/10. I can’t recall playing a nicer course in Europe?! Play off of the whites and you better have your ‘A’ game! Alternatively, if you’re a group of higher handicappers (you need to be 15 or below to play off of the whites) then play off of the yellow tees and experience a decent, but fairer test whilst taking in the beautiful scenery! Good practice range and nice clubhouse with your usual selection of toasted sandwiches and burgers.
