Golf Son Vida is Mallorca's oldest course, first opened in 1964, and it still feels like a proper 'classic' round when you're planning a golf break in Palma. Set above the city, you'll get big views over the bay and, on a clear day, you can see why people rave about the setting.
What to expect
This is parkland golf through mature pines with gentle changes in elevation, so it's more about placement than power. I'd keep the driver honest early on because the fairways can feel tight from the tee, but they do open up as you come into the greens. If you've found the short stuff you can be aggressive, and if you haven't, there's usually enough room to salvage the hole with a sensible lay-up and a solid wedge.
On the card
You'll meet a good mix of doglegs and elevated targets, with bunkers placed where you actually want to land the ball rather than just for show. It's varied without being gimmicky, and that makes it a great shout for mixed-ability groups.
Who is this for?
Golfers wanting a historic Mallorcan course with standout views and an enjoyable, tactical test close to Palma.
Who is it best for?
Mid to low handicappers and societies who like plotting a way round and want an easy base for hotels, beaches and nightlife.

Son Vida Golf
Golf Son Vida is the most traditional course on Mallorca. A legend among players from all over Europe having hosted European Tour events in the 1990's.
The layout received a shot in the arm in 2001 when esteemed golf architect Kurt Rossknecht reworked the entire course, but the recent work has not detracted from the original F.W. Hawtree design, put in place in the early 1960s.
The course is certainly easy on the eye, as the fairways are bordered by many species of beautiful trees, including palm, pine and almond.
With fabulous mountain and sea views, Son Vida has it all, and is definitely a favourite of regular golf travellers to the island of Mallorca.
