The Players Golf Club is an easy one to tick off if you're in or around Bristol. It's just a mile from the M4 and under 30 minutes from the centre, so you can get from car park to first tee without turning the day into a motorway mission.
You've got plenty of golf for one venue too: two 18-hole courses, a par 3 and a practice set-up that's ideal if you fancy loosening up before your round (or sorting the swing out after it).
If you've only got time for a quick hit, you can still drop in for a bucket of balls and some lunch. If you're building a short break or society day, having multiple course options on one site makes planning (and keeping everyone happy) a lot simpler.
The location works well for groups travelling from different parts of the country, with motorway access making journey times straightforward. It's also handy if you're combining it with other rounds in the area.
Who is this for?
Golfers looking for a straightforward-to-reach venue near Bristol with two contrasting 18-hole courses, a par 3 and solid practice facilities.
Who is it best for?
Groups and societies who want variety without travelling between venues, plus golfers who like the idea of a championship-style test on Codrington with a second course that plays differently for day two.

Built to the highest specifications, the Players Club was commissioned with the intent to create a course that would test the mettle of even the finest golfer. With this in mind, the course measures an astonishing 7,600 yards from the championship markers, and features a 4,000 yard front nine, rivalled only in the UK by Dalmahoy's East Course.
Architect Adrian Stiff has succeeded in completing a remarkable course, which is reminiscent in many ways of the classic resort courses native to Florida, with enormous, sweeping greens that are protected by massive bunkers and water hazards. The trademark railway sleepers are bordered by woodland, gorse and heather, and there are a number of hugely dramatic and challenging holes.
The Players is maintained in good condition thanks to its state-of-the-art irrigation system, so if you feel brave enough, tackle the monster Players Club during your next Bristol golf tour.

Didn’t like this course so much. Didn’t play well but not as good as The Codrington and poor signage on the course

The Codrington is a fantastic golf course. Everyone in the group enjoyed it, from the low handicappers to the high. Greens were in great shape considering they had been treated.
