1 Night, 1 Round
Set among the sweeping hills of Wiltshire, Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort is one of England's finest places to stay and play. The championship layout, named The PGA's Official Golf Course and Academy for the South West PGA, is one of Wiltshire's most beautiful tests, carved through the fabulous Bowood House estate with views across the countryside that'll make you forget you're meant to be concentrating on your approach shot.
Located on the A4 between Chippenham and Calne at Derry Hill (signposted from the M4, Junction 17), Bowood is extremely accessible from across the UK, which matters when you're planning a weekend break or society trip. The 4-star hotel delivers top-class service alongside a comprehensive spa, and it's easy to see why this is a Signature Collection resort. The golf is serious enough to test low handicappers, the facilities are strong enough to keep non-golfers happy, and the whole estate has that rare mix of quality and character that turns a weekend of golf into a proper getaway rather than just another round somewhere new.
Who is this for?
Couples, small groups and societies who want a UK weekend with proper golf, a high-end hotel and a spa that keeps non-golfers just as happy.
Who is it best for?
Golfers who like a championship-feel course, plus groups who want easy motorway access and a resort that still feels like an estate escape.

Bowood Golf Resort is The PGA's Official Golf Course and Academy for the South West of England. From the medal tees, Bowood has hosted prestigious events, including PGA Challenge Tour Championships, however, Dave Thomas has installed a good range of tees to ensure that the higher handicapper will not be too daunted. The 7,309 yard, 72 par layout encompasses tricky dog-legs, water hazards and strategically positioned bunkers, which are sure to challenge even the most skilled visitors, while all are sure to enjoy the incredible surroundings.
Bowood's practice centre is the envy of many, featuring a 3-hole Academy course, putting greens and a floodlit, covered driving range, all of which are complemented by the dedicated team of fully qualified PGA professionals.
Bowood Golf Resort has been voted into the Top Ten New Courses, and Top 50 Courses in Britain by Golf World Magazine.
If you're looking for a stunning championship golf course with impressive and affordable accommodation and leisure facilities to match, Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort ticks every box. Each of the hotel's 43 luxurious rooms offers a proper night's sleep, with spacious en-suite bathrooms and every amenity you could wish for, including plasma screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The rooms are well appointed without being stuffy, comfortable without being bland, and large enough that you're not tripping over your golf bag every time you move.
Guests can look forward to a delicious three-course dinner in the relaxed setting of the Shelburne Restaurant, with picture-perfect views of the surrounding countryside. The menu focuses on modern British favourites, and the setting is smart enough for a celebration dinner but relaxed enough that you won't feel out of place after a day on the course. For larger parties of 17 or more, dinner will be served in one of the beautifully furnished private dining rooms or the Clubhouse Brasserie, subject to availability on the evening. It's a flexible setup that works well for societies and groups who want to eat together without taking over the main restaurant.
The Spa at Bowood is the perfect place to unwind after your round, or where the non-golfers in your party can relax while you're out playing. The state-of-the-art spa includes a beautiful infinity swimming pool, full-spec gym, rock sauna, crystal steam room, aromatherapy shower, relaxation room and spa bar, as well as treatment rooms and expert therapists. It's a genuinely well-equipped spa, so it works brilliantly for couples and mixed groups where not everyone is obsessed with golf.
Take a walk around the spectacular Bowood estate or visit Bowood House & Gardens during the open season (April to October). The grounds are genuinely worth exploring, with landscaped gardens, woodland walks and enough history to add a bit of extra interest between rounds. Or, if you'd prefer to venture outside the resort, Bowood is only a short drive from many of Wiltshire's most popular attractions, including the historical city of Bath and the quintessential English village of Lacock, which is also a very popular filming location. It's the kind of location that makes a golf break feel like a proper getaway rather than just a change of course.
Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort continues to be one of our customers' highest rated UK golf resorts, and when you see the combination of championship golf, luxury facilities and estate setting, it's not hard to understand why.

Amazing golf course all ready for the PGA event, staff were so welcoming even the lady and man in the halfway hut. Good food choice and lovely room. The spa area and pool were also great lovely to get an early morning swim in. Very obliging also with an earlier tee time , the course was surprisingly quiet.

Room was great, a lot of our food wasn’t very hot - cold asparagus and egg starter ( no one even checked us ), cold steak for main which was sorted out and then not very hot breakfast !! The bar gents were amazing and were very helpful and knowledgeable, restaurant weren’t horrible or rude just look like they definitely need training. I had no tv remote in my room - again they were trying to sort out. I had to wait half an hour but it still didn’t work ( I just had to turn the tv over manually) , but just expect a bit More really to be honest.

Have to say that the one let down of the trip was the food. Chef was unable to cook a simple steak rare. I sent it back and the waitress returned it saying that this was as rare as the chef could get it...seemed very odd as it was clearly medium rare / medium. Order an accompanying peppercorn sauce and it was without doubt the worst sauce I have ever had. No flavour and basically the consistency of water. Very poor. Breakfast in the morning also a let down. All items stone cold. disappointing to say the least

We all enjoyed the setting and quality of the course,I personally played well which makes the difficulty of the course seem easier! I must compliment Roger the starter who relaxed us with course info and sorted the buggies out for us. Also a special mention to the halfway house staff and that facility was very good. We will visit again I’m sure.

As fairly inexperienced golfers we found the course very challenging due to the number of hazards (particularly bunkers) and the length of the holes. However, it was an enjoyable challenge. The course is in fantastic condition and in a spectacular setting. Would recommend to anyone.

We played towards the end of Jan so the course was a little wet in places but perfectly playable. Bowood is a great track, some really lovely holes. It was playing very long due to the lack of run so if you are not a long hitter and play it in the winter be prepared to be hitting in rescues or long irons to most of the greens. It has without doubt the best positioned bunkers of any course I have played. You really need to drive the ball long and straight to avoid them. Rough was not too punishing but they tell me in the summer it is knee high. All in all a great course and we all agreed that we would like to return in the summer to test ourselves again when the course will have a bit of bounce on the fairways and hopefully the sun will be on our back
