Golf du Mont Garni is just a few minutes north west of Mons and, in my opinion, it's one of the region's better-value rounds for a Belgium golf break. The club is welcoming, the setting is mature and leafy and the course gives you that classic parkland feel where shaping shots and picking sensible targets tends to beat simply swinging harder.
Out on the course you'll find tree-lined fairways, gently rolling ground and enough change of direction to keep things interesting for mixed-ability groups. Miss the fairway and you will have to think your way back into position, but it's not a brutal, ball-losing slog. If you enjoy plotting your way round, you'll like it here. The greens are typically a strong point and when they're running true it becomes a really satisfying test of distance control.
The clubhouse keeps things relaxed and straightforward, which works well for societies and tour groups who want a smooth day without any stuffiness. It's also a handy option logistically, whether you're staying around Mons or building a wider Belgium itinerary with a couple of rounds in easy reach.

Surrounded the charming clubhouse at Mont Garni is a golf course that is comprised, in an unorthodox manner, of three distinct 6-hole loops. Each one has its own individual style, and takes full advantage of the splendid local terrain. Mature woodland defines the holes beautifully, creating a magnificent setting for a golfing experience.
Mons and its surrounding area combine to form a new and exciting destination for golf breaks in Belgium; the town itself is hugely enjoyable, and the high quality golf courses are the perfect partner.

Got to be one of the best clubhouses, a beautiful old building. The course was again mainly woodland, but 5 holes were out in the open, with no trees at all. The fairways were good and the greens excellent when we played here. This course was about a 20 minute drive from Mons.
