2 Nights, 2 Rounds
Perched on Northern Ireland's Atlantic-facing Causeway Coast, the Portrush Atlantic Hotel is a well-run, award-winning 3-star base a short walk from Portrush town centre. You're close to the harbour for pubs, restaurants and post-round atmosphere, and handily placed for the region's headline act, Royal Portrush, host venue for The Open. The hotel has picked up 'Newcomer of the Year' and 'Hotel of the Year' awards more than once, which tells you what you need to know: it's not about fancy extras, it's about friendly service, a comfortable night's sleep and a location that makes a golf tour easy.
Off the course, you're in a great spot for the North Coast's big hitters including the Giant's Causeway, Bushmills Distillery and Carrick-a-Rede. In other words, this works brilliantly for mixed groups where some want 36 holes and others want scenery, whisky and a decent dinner in town. I'll be honest, if you've come to tick Royal Portrush off the list, staying somewhere you can walk to town afterwards is a big win.
Who is this for? Golfers and groups who want a sociable Portrush base near Royal Portrush, with plenty of evening options on foot.
Who is it best for? Golfers building a Causeway Coast links tour who value convenience, comfort and an easy post-golf scene more than luxury frills.

The hotel has 69 modern bedrooms geared towards golfers who want things simple and practical. Expect a comfortable bed, an en-suite bathroom, tea and coffee facilities and a flat-screen TV. If you're travelling with clubs, there's enough space to keep your bag and waterproofs out of the way, which matters after a wet links day. What you're really paying for here is consistency. Rooms are kept clean, check-in is straightforward and you can actually get a decent sleep before an early tee time. If you're the type who'd rather spend budget on green fees than gold taps, it's a smart fit.
Downstairs, the Counties Bar is the obvious meeting point for groups. It's an easy place to grab a pint, swap scorecards and sort out the next day's plan without having to trek back out into town. Food is classic pub fare, ideal for a hearty bite after 18 (or 36) when you can't face another sit-down meal. The bar has a good local atmosphere without being rowdy, and it's the kind of spot where you can settle in for the evening or use it as a quick stop before heading into Portrush proper.
Course-wise, Royal Portrush is the headline, with Portstewart and Castlerock also within straightforward driving range, making it a strong hub for a North Coast run. The hotel staff can often help with tee time advice and local course recommendations if you're building an itinerary on the fly. For golfers on a multi-day tour, the hotel's location means you can walk to Portrush's restaurants, chippies and traditional music pubs in under ten minutes, giving you flexibility on where and how you spend your evenings. It's the kind of place that feels like a proper golfers' hotel, run by people who understand what you're there to do and how to make it easier.

Situated very close to several fantastic bars, the Atlantic hotel is the place to stay if you are on a golfing break. The only negative would be the lack of secure parking, that said we parked our two car very easily in a side road less that 15 meters from reception. The bars are the most friendliest I've known in all my life...and that is no exaggeration, men, women and couples all is great spirits, wanting our group to join in. The band's were brilliant...bang on.
