3 Nights, Unlimited Rounds
Tucked between the Algarve and the Costa del Sol on the golden Costa de la Luz, DoubleTree by Hilton Islantilla is the sort of place that makes a golf trip feel like a proper holiday too. You've got a championship course on site, a former Spanish Open venue that ranks among the top 100 layouts in Spain, plus a long sandy Atlantic beach close enough that you can be on the first tee one minute and looking at the sea the next.
The golf is framed by tall pines and asks for position rather than power. Routed through the trees with strategic bunkering and elevation changes, it's the sort of course that rewards accuracy and course management over brute force. When the wind gets up off the Atlantic it can feel like a very different test, so it's a great one for groups with a mix of styles, especially if you like plotting your way round and taking your chances from the right side of the fairway.
Off the course, Islantilla is easy-going and sunny, with plenty of space to unwind. The private beach club is a big draw, especially in summer, with live music, water sports and those wide Atlantic views. It's a simple rhythm here: 18 holes in the morning, a lazy afternoon by the pool or on the sand, then dinner and a few drinks back at the resort. The location also makes it easy to explore other courses along the Costa de la Luz if you want to add variety to the itinerary.
Who is this for? Golf groups, couples and societies who want sunshine golf with a proper beach option, without trekking miles between hotel and course.
Who is it best for? Mid-handicappers and better players who enjoy a course that rewards smart positioning, plus mixed groups where some will happily trade a round for the beach club or spa.

The excellent layout is a regular on the Challenge Tour, but the highlight for Islantilla came in 1995 when it was chosen to welcome the PGA European Tour's best for the Turespana Masters, won by Alex Cejka. This rise to prominence was underlined in the year 2000, when the respected publication, Golf Digest, included Islantilla in its list of Europe's top 100.
The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole loops, so the resultant combinations provide welcome variety. Known as the Yellow, Green and Blue courses, all three afford golfers amazing sea views, set against the backdrop of the beautiful pine forest that adorns the cliff-top landscape. This spectacular location makes for a truly memorable golf experience, but one that will also challenge even the best players.
Islantilla's practice facility and academy is one of the most comprehensive in the Huelva province, and is the perfect place to seek some technical advice from the PGA professionals.
The four-star hotel sits in the heart of the golf course and the beach is around 800 metres away, so you're never far from either. It's set up with golfers in mind, from early breakfast times to secure club storage, but it still works well for couples and mixed groups where not everyone is playing every day.
There are 204 spacious rooms and suites, each with a balcony or terrace with views over the course or the surrounding pines. Rooms are modern and comfortable, with air conditioning, a mini-bar, safe deposit box, flat-screen TV, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. The extra space in the rooms makes a real difference after a day on the course, with plenty of room to spread out and relax.
The outdoor pool is expansive and gets sun throughout the day, perfect for cooling off between rounds. The spa offers a covered jacuzzi, solarium, Turkish baths and a well-equipped gym, plus a full menu of treatments including massages, facials, reflexology and more. It's a proper spa facility rather than an afterthought, ideal for recovery days or for non-golfing guests.
The standout for many guests is the private Beach Club, reached by a complimentary mini-train from the hotel. You'll find a freshwater pool, sun terrace, café and restaurant, water sports and plenty of space on the sand when you want to properly switch off. It's the perfect spot to spend a rest day or an afternoon after morning golf.
Food and drink are straightforward and varied. The hotel's à la carte restaurant serves quality Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on fresh local ingredients, while the terrace bar and grill is ideal for lighter meals and sunset drinks. There's even an English-style pub on site, handy if your group fancies a familiar pint after the round. The variety means groups can eat together without getting bored of the same menu, and the quality is consistently good across all outlets.
For golfers, the location in the centre of the course means you can walk to the first tee in minutes, and the hotel's understanding of golfers' schedules makes the whole experience seamless. For everyone else, the combination of beach access, spa facilities and dining options ensures there's plenty to enjoy beyond the golf.

The hotel is situated in a nice location over looking the golf courses. Hotel is clean and food in the restaurant is good and a great choice. Hotel is shutting for 4 months for a refurbishment. The only negative is the lack of entertainment at night time.

I thought the rooms were okay but need a bit of a face lift which I believe is going ahead this year starting in October. Overall not a lot wrong.

This Golf resort has everything you need. Good food and service and very comfortable rooms. There is a Spa and swimming pools, so if you want a chill down from golf for a day or two everything is there. Its about 10 min walk from a gorgeous beach and club bar and is all round a great place to be.

This was a good stay for large groups of golfers but not ideal for couples The restaurant food was quite basic and there was a cafeteria feeling to the scene That's tinned fruit which was a shame when we expected fresh fruit in this part of Spain We upgraded our room to a junior suite which gave us more space but the room was tired in need of modernisation and quite basic.

Surrounded by property makes it a little crowded. Some fairways needed attention.

Golf courses were in great condition and did not disappoint. Felt buggy hire was very expensive, golf club was lovely as food in there. It was all let down by food in hotel extremly poor this year. Based on that won't be back. Which is a shame as golf side of resort fabulous.

The golf course is made up with 3x9 holes. which are called the blue nine, yellow nine, and green nine. The green nine is the easiest for scoring and walking. The other 2 are a good bit harder and challenging.Overall course was in good condition.

Great course - each had its merits - having 3 different courses in one was also a bonus. Greens and fairways fab. We walked all the time with push trolleys which was fine and if there was just the two of us we were round in 4 hours. One of the 9 holes was classed as easier - ok for wild long hitters as not much trouble - more difficult for the ladies. Views terrrific - water stations on course.

The three nine holes all had challenges but not overly hard, the worst looking part was the condition of the buggie paths they were in poor condition.

With three 9 hole circuits (all of varying difficulties and terrain) you can mix and match to your hearts content. Fantastic sea views from one of the courses and all the greens were very well kept. A fully stocked Club House and Pro shop available (dangerous on the credit card), ample buggies and trollys available and very helpful staff. My third visit and will be going back again. Thank you to Will at Your Golf Travel for organising transfers and everything else, it makes the trip not having to worry about anything (apart from your putting of course, lol). All in all I would recommend this for beginners and experienced golfers alike.

We had not pre booked buggies..as 4 of our group are well in to their eighties this was a major problem..we did not get 4 full rounds in because of the lack of buggies..

Tough run of 3 nine holes, Blue was particularly tough with tight fairways and narrow greens. The greens were in excellent condition!

The course was very busy and extremely slow There were novice golfers taking up to 4.5 hours to complete 18 holes The course condition was good Unfortunately the timings went astray when we tried to play our second 9 holes Andre had to go to the golf shop to move to another course to complete our round.
