Perched right in the heart of Tarragona on Spain's Costa Dorada, the H10 Imperial Tarraco is a 4-star superior hotel that puts you where the city's Roman past meets the Mediterranean. I like it for the setting alone, you're looking over terracotta rooftops towards the ancient amphitheatre and out to sea, so even a quick coffee on the balcony feels like you've gone somewhere special. A full renovation in 2020 has given the public areas and rooms a bright, modern finish without losing that grand Tarragona character.
From a golfer's point of view, it's an easy, sensible base. You're a straightforward drive to Infinitum Golf and Costa Dorada Golf Club, plus you've got plenty of other options in the area if you're building a 3 or 4-round itinerary. The bonus is what happens after the last putt drops, you can head straight back into the old quarter for tapas, find a lively bar or stroll down to the seafront for a post-round walk. The beaches are handy too, with the promenade within walking distance if you fancy a swim or just some sea air between rounds.
If your group wants sunshine golf without being stuck in a self-contained resort, this is a smart choice. You've got beaches close by, culture on the doorstep and quality courses within easy reach. The hotel itself offers more than just a bed for the night. Alta Mare restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients, the Circus Bar is a relaxed spot for a drink, and the Caelum Rooftop gives you panoramic views across the city and coastline, especially good around sunset. There's also the Despacio Beauty Centre if you want to unwind properly after 36 holes.

Rooms at H10 Imperial Tarraco were refreshed in the 2020 refurbishment and it shows. The look is clean and Mediterranean-inspired, with a calm colour palette and a contemporary finish that suits a golf break, practical, comfortable and easy to unwind in after a day out on the courses.
Entry-level Classic Basic and Classic rooms are a solid option if you plan to be out most of the day. They give you modern comfort without fuss, a decent base when you're spending your time on the course or exploring the city. If you're the type who likes a quieter wind-down in the evening, it's worth stepping up to Classic Mare for the sea view. Makes a real difference when you're having breakfast or settling in after a long round.
For couples or two mates sharing who want a bit more breathing space, Deluxe Mare typically feels like the sweet spot, more room and bigger views across the Med. The spacious layout and wider panoramic windows frame the Mediterranean properly, ideal if you're on a longer trip or just want a bit more comfort after back-to-back days on the fairways.
At the top end, Mare Junior Suites and Imperial Tarraco Suites give you a more spacious layout that works well for longer stays or anyone who wants a more premium base between rounds. The furnishings are contemporary, the beds are comfortable, and the amenities cover what you need after a day on the course.
The central Tarragona location means you're a short walk from the city's Roman amphitheatre, cathedral and old quarter, with plenty of restaurants and bars within easy reach. The nearby golf courses are all a straightforward drive, making the H10 Imperial Tarraco a practical, comfortable base for a Costa Dorada golf break that offers more than just the golf.
