One of the youngest courses on Scotland's 'Golf Coast', Craigielaw has already made its mark, hosting the Scottish Senior Open in 2018 and earning a place among Scotland's top 80. Craigielaw Golf Course
Located in the picturesque village of Aberlady, and bordering the traditional links at Kilspindie, Craigielaw is not a classic seaside course. Massive, undulating putting surfaces give the course an American resort edge, but the overriding influence is the firm, sandy turf underfoot.
Being a modern build, Craigielaw is longer and more open than many older links, but the key to scoring still lies with the short game. The tough greens and the endless cavernous bunkers which surround them make this course a real gem.
Despite its youth, Craigielaw has already been awarded the 2006 Scottish Amateur Strokeplay Championship, and the qualifying for the 2007 Senior Open Championship, to be staged at nearby Muirfield. The excellent practice facilities at Craigielaw make it a haven for some of Scotland's best golfers.

Accommodation at Craigielaw Golf Club & Lodge
The Lodge at Craigielaw is attached to the clubhouse and offers 25 comfortable rooms set up as doubles or twins. Thirteen rooms look out over the course towards the River Forth, with views stretching to Gullane and the Kingdom of Fife. The remaining twelve face an attractive internal courtyard, which tends to be quieter if you're prioritising a good night's sleep after 36 holes.
It's a straightforward, golfer-friendly set-up. You can leave the car parked, settle in and walk to the clubhouse for breakfast, your tee time and a post-round pint. For groups and societies, that on-site layout makes planning simple, especially if you're playing different courses across the week but want one reliable base.
The rooms are well appointed and designed with golfers in mind, offering everything you need for a comfortable stay without unnecessary frills. You'll find proper storage for clubs and kit, decent showers and enough space to spread out after a long day on the links. It's not a luxury resort, but it's exactly what you need when the priority is golf and you want to be out the door quickly in the morning.
Food and drink are taken care of in the clubhouse bar and restaurant, with big windows over the course and a relaxed, sociable feel. The menu covers hearty clubhouse fare and seasonal dishes, with breakfast sorted for early tee times and evening meals available if you're staying put. If you fancy making a night of it, you're only 30 minutes from Edinburgh, which opens up everything from casual pubs to Michelin-star dining. For something closer, Longniddry and Prestonpans have a handful of local spots worth booking ahead, particularly at weekends.
When you're not golfing, East Lothian is made for exploring. There are over 40 miles of coastline to walk, sandy beaches, cliff paths and historic towns all within easy reach. It's an easy place to bring non-golfers too, with plenty of attractions and scenery to fill a day. And if you are here purely for a golf tour, you've got an enormous menu of courses within a short drive, making The Lodge at Craigielaw the perfect hub for a proper East Lothian golf trip.

Very enjoyable stay, the hotel was spotlessly clean and the rooms very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent . Our only complaint was that due to the beautiful weather, the tables for dinner were right beside the window and the sun was still very hot and in our eyes which was a bit annoying. That could easily be rectified with some window blinds. The staff brought a screen on the second night. However we thoroughly enjoed

For a one night stay with golf it had everything you required for your comfort, the two course dinner and breakfast was excellent and the room was quiet and comfortable.

the course was in good condition, the greens slightly slower as per time of year, a strong wind made it quite difficult, even although it was busy I was round in 3.30 hrs. Only bad point was tee times a bit random.
