BlackSeaRama is a proper villa-style golf resort perched above Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, and the cliff-top views are the first thing that grab you. It's built around a Gary Player Signature championship golf course, so if you like your golf with a bit of bite and scenery that'll distract you on the tee, you're in the right place.
Off the course, you've got plenty to keep the group busy: a sports centre, tennis courts, a gym, horse riding and a fishing lake with a picnic and BBQ area for the days when you fancy a slower pace. There are also several on-site dining options, so you can go full self-catering in the villa or make it an easy "no cooking" week if that's more your style.
If you want to mix golf with a bit of exploring, Varna is the main hub nearby for shops, bars and restaurants, while Balchik's historic harbour and Golden Sands are both handy for a beach day or a change of scene. Varna Airport is the nearest international gateway and the transfer typically takes around 45 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic and your exact villa location.
Planning your trip to Varna: UK direct flights are seasonal, so it's worth checking live schedules early. In winter you'll often be looking at a connection, which can affect arrival times and transfer planning.
Who is this for?
Golf groups who want a villa base, a proper championship test and enough off-course options to keep everyone happy.
Who is it best for?
Couples, families and small groups who like self-catering freedom, but still want restaurants, a pool and easy day trips to Varna, Balchik and Golden Sands.

Perched high on the cliffs of Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, BlackSeaRama is starting to enjoy an equally lofty position as one of the most revered new courses in the world.
BlackSeaRama is the first championship signature golf course in Bulgaria and, despite many new courses being planned for the country, it will almost certainly remain one of the best.
Working with largely flat terrain, Player produced 18 beautifully self-contained holes which are separated by towering hillocks, or water and sand. There's also an elegant Tuscan-style clubhouse and four artificial lakes within the complex each stocked with a different species of fish.
As is usual when a course is close to the sea, the wind is often a significant factor, and Player has taken the wind into account beautifully with this layout, which was voted "Best New International Course" by a prestigious US magazine in 2009. Player's layout winds its way over the cliffs, which tower up to around 500 feet, providing great golfing challenges and some stunning views over the Black Sea at the same time.
Situated 40 minutes drive from Varna International Airport and close to three of the most famous sea resorts in Bulgaria, this 7,200-yard, par-72 course has multiple teeing areas to cater to different ability levels.
It is the first completed project of Gary Player in Eastern Europe, but it won't be his last, as this design has so impressed the locals they've asked him to design another course up the road, called Thracian Cliffs.
BlackSeaRama is ranked as one of the best courses in Bulgaria
BlackSeaRama has 28 detached and semi-detached villas, all air-conditioned with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen, plus TV and telephone. If you're coming as a bigger group, there are Premium Villas (three bedrooms, sleeps up to six) and Deluxe Private Villas (sleeps up to eight), which work well for multi-generational trips or society weekends where you want everyone under one roof.
The villas are positioned to take advantage of the cliff-top setting, with many enjoying sea views and easy access to the resort's facilities. You're close to the sports centre and fishing lake, and it's an easy stroll to the pool and the main dining spots, including the Bell Tower Bistro and the clubhouse restaurants. Room service and food delivery from the resort shop are also available, which is ideal if your group wants a quiet night in after 18 holes.
The Bell Tower Bistro offers casual all-day dining with light bites and snacks, perfect for a quick lunch between rounds or after a morning by the pool. The Clubhouse Bistro serves more substantial meals in a relaxed setting, while the Clubhouse Gourmet Restaurant provides fine dining for those evenings when you want to make a bit more of it. The variety of dining options means you can choose between casual poolside meals, hearty post-round fare and more formal evening dining without leaving the resort.
Beyond golf and dining, the resort offers a gym, tennis courts and horse riding facilities, making it easy to fill rest days or keep non-golfing partners and families entertained. The fishing lake adds another leisure option, particularly for those who enjoy a quieter pace between rounds. The combination of villa accommodation, multiple dining venues and extensive leisure facilities makes BlackSeaRama a strong choice for groups with mixed interests or families who want more than just golf from their break.

This was the least challenging of the courses with three out of 4 players beating their handicap. The fairways were relatively open with little in the way of tee shot hazards. Wouldn't rush back. The club house facilities post the game were good for food and drink.

Absolutely loved this course and our experience. The practice facilities are exceptional and the staff were so friendly and helpful. After the golf we sat outside the club house, which has an amazing view over the 18th and the Black Sea. We also had a meal after the golf which we found cheaper than Thracian Cliffs. Would definitely go there again.

We played this course in high winds so it played more difficult than normal. Visually much more attractive than Lighthouse but still couldn’t compare with Thracian Cliffs. Very good layout with a good mix of holes. Greens and fairways both very good. The course is fairly flat but designed so that each hole seems self contained. Facilities before and after the round were very good and wonderful views from the clubhouse looking out to the Black Sea. Very good course and we would recommend a visit.

A great golf course, scenic, with some great golf holes, only let down by the pace of the greens which were quite slow, but on the whole a very recommended course.

Having had 2 rounds at Thracian Cliffs this looked very flat. Greens were less of a challenge and on the day we played quite slow. The practice facilities are fantastic with endless free balls. The club house is better than Thracian's as it is between the 18th green and main entrance and has nice restaurant and bar just where you need it.
