Arabian Ranches is strictly a pay-as-you-play course, and this makes it superb value for the golf holiday-maker in Dubai. The two loops of nine reflect the natural character of the landscape as much as possible, which has been skilfully manipulated by former Open champion Baker-Finch to create some memorable holes.
Pristine fairways and greens round off what is an outstanding holiday resort course, and one that makes for a superb round on a top course as part of a golf escape to Dubai.
The Spanish Colonial-style clubhouse is the hub of the place and it's a lovely spot to wind down after your round. The Ranches Restaurant and Bar has a terrace looking over the 9th and 18th, so you can grab a drink and replay the best (and worst) swings with a proper view of the closing holes. Food-wise, it's an international menu that works well for golf groups, you'll find easy post-round favourites as well as more substantial options if you're making an evening of it.
If you like the idea of staying right on the course, there are 11 guest rooms within the clubhouse. It's a small, boutique-style set-up rather than a huge resort, which is exactly the appeal for many golfers. Rooms look out over either the course or the lake and come en-suite, with the usual modern comforts such as satellite TV, internet access and a minibar (always welcome after 18 in the Dubai heat).
The big benefit is convenience. You can roll out of bed, have breakfast, then hop in the buggy and head straight to the 1st tee without factoring in traffic or transfer times. Difficult due to blind holes or obscure dog-legs. Difficult to determine value for money as individual pricing was not detailed in the package, Suffice to say we would not choose to re-visit this course.

organisation was a bit lax as they did not have our reserved tee time in their system. They accepted it was their failure to put it on their system as they had the email from the agent. No problem though as the course was not busy. 2nd tier by Dubai standards but a friendly place and the course is certainly OK if not great.

Tough course with lots of sand and tight fairways. Great course and greens were excellent.
